ELIGIBILITY
All participants must be 50 years of age as of DECEMBER 31, 2010 for all individual and team events. Participants will compete in the age division based on their age on December 31, 2010. There are 10 age divisions for men and women: 50-54 55-59 60-64 65-69 70-74 75-79 80-84 85-89 90-94 95+. Divisions may be combined if less than four participants register in any one division. Participants will still be competing within their own age division even if groups are combined. In team events (3 on 3 Basketball, Softball & Volleyball) the age of the youngest player on a team roster will determine the division in which the team competes. In tournament doubles and mixed doubles events, the age of the younger player in the pair will determine the division in which the pair competes.

REGISTRATION DEADLINES & FEES
Registration fees and a signed liability waiver must accompany each registration form. Each registration fee allows a participant to register for an unlimited number of events. Registration fees are NON-REFUNDABLE and apply to all participating individuals. Additional fees apply to certain events and must be included with the submitted registration form. All registration information is kept confidential.
 
Registration Fees & Deadlines:
  • On or before May 22:  $30.00 per participant 
  • After May 22:               $35.00 per participant 
  • After June 5:                 No tournament or team registrations will be accepted.
  • Day of Event                $40.00 per participant

Additional Fees: In addition to the Registration Fees listed above.
 
  • Bowling: $9.00 (includes 3 games and shoe rental) 
  • Golf:       $30.00  (Includes Greens Fees for 18 holes of golf, 1/2 of a riding cart and a luncheon following the round.  Willow Creek members will not be charged Greens Fee)

     
Team Events: 3 on 3 Basketball, Granny Basketball, Softball & Volleyball: 
  • Individual registration forms, liability waivers and fees apply to each team member. 
  • Managers are responsible to mail in completed team rosters with all individual registrations. 
  • Rosters will be checked prior to competition to ensure all team members have registered.
 
Payments:
  • If you register on-line: payments are made by credit card at that time. 
  • Payment must accompany registration when mailed: Make checks payable to “Iowa Senior Olympics” and deliver or mail all registration forms and fees to:

REQUIRED CHECK-IN (All participants must check-in before going to their events)
The Welcome Center and Registration Table will be located at Valley High School, 3650 Woodland Avenue, West Des Moines. Note: Those participating in the Golf Tournament may check-in at the course.

Check-in desk hours:
June 17   4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
June 18   8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
June 19   7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
June 20   8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Participants in events held on June 4-5th may pick up their registration packets at the event sites. Unclaimed registration packets will not be mailed out.

CANCELLATIONS
Iowa Senior Olympics officials reserve the right to cancel any event for insufficient registration.

AWARDS
Medals will be awarded for first, second and third places in all age groups. The only exceptions will be for events not competing by age. Medals will be awarded at most event sites. Out of state participants will be awarded medals based on their overall finish in their respective age group, however, they will not take away medals from the top three finishers who are Iowa residents. All medals must be picked up during the four-day event; they will not be mailed out.

SPORT RULES & REGULATIONS
Events are governed by Iowa Senior Olympics and follow rules set by that organization.  Rules books are available for viewing during the games at the registration table in the Welcome Center.  You may also Click Here to view rules for each specific sport.

PROPER ATTIRE FOR COMPETITION
All athletes must wear athletic type clothing and shoes that are usual and customary for the sport in which they are competing. Reminder - you are expected to have a contestant number to participate in any event.

EVENTS & STARTING TIMES
Participants in individual events must report at the designated starting times. Participants in individual tournament events must report within 15 minutes of the designated starting time or forfeit participation in that event. Participants in team events are responsible for checking the schedule as a match or game may be scheduled at anytime during the hours listed. Some event schedules overlap because of time limitations and facility availability; therefore, participants must make a choice. Please recheck your times, as events will not be delayed due to the scheduling conflicts of participants. If your event overlaps another event and you are late, you will risk disqualification.
